Here are some easy snack ideas that will make celebrating Independence Day with your friends and family even more fun. Letting the kids help in the kitchen will also make them proud of their work and excited to show off their creations.

Fruit skewers

Fruit kebobs are made by putting strawberries, bananas and blueberries on a skewer.

Fruit Kebobs: Last year, I made fruit kebobs with my children using strawberries, bananas and blueberries. Stack however many you want on a wooden skewer and eat them as is, or serve them with Greek vanilla yogurt for a healthy fruit dip. Super easy and kid-friendly, without worrying about common allergies. If someone doesn’t like bananas, substitute them for marshmallows.

Watermelon Stars: What’s not to love about everyone’s summer favorite fruit? Watermelon is in stores now, and is a healthy, refreshing treat on warm summer days. Instead of just slicing the melon, get your cookie cutters and cut watermelon pieces into stars. Then place them in a bowl with blueberries and apples to make a colorful dish that kids will love. To use the whole melon, cut it in half, scoop out the red fruit from one half, then use that side like a bowl and fill it with your star-shaped watermelon pieces.

Star-spangled Banner Angel Food Cake: This fun dessert is perfect for kids to help with the patriotic decorating. Purchase or make your own angel food cake, let it cool, then on top use colorful red, white and blue ingredients to look like the American flag. Blueberries are best for blue, use strawberries or raspberries to represent red, and whipped cream works great for white. Making your own whipped cream using heavy cream, sugar and vanilla extract will elevate this summer dish because whipped cream tastes so much better fresh.

Keto friendly bark

Keto Yogurt Bark is a healthy and delicious treat for the summer.

Keto Yogurt Bark: Looking for a healthy treat to cool off? All you need is the yogurt of your choice, fruit (I used strawberries and blackberries) and granola. Use a baking dish covered in parchment paper, and spread the yogurt across the bottom and put the fruit and granola on top. Then put it into the freezer for three hours. My kids tried this and enjoyed it as much as ice cream! Recipe from Caitlin at Health and Wellness. Find her on Instagram @cleaneaterr.

Almond Bark Popcorn: I don’t know about your kids, but mine LOVE popcorn! For this festive treat, you will need 8 cups of fresh popped popcorn, 2 cubes of vanilla almond bark and 3 tbsp of nonpareil sprinkles. (Almond bark is a chocolate-like confection made with vegetable fats instead of cocoa butter.) After you pop your popcorn, place it in a large bowl. Melt the almond bark (follow directions on packaging), and stir the melted bark into the popcorn, coating it all evenly. Then put the popcorn on a baking sheet lined with wax paper and add sprinkles. Let it dry and then you’re done! Look for gluten free almond bark if needed. eatingrichly.com
